Star Gentian
(Swertia perennis)

The Star Gentian is also known as Alpine Bog Swertia and Star Felwort. It grows at high elevations, in boggy wet soil.

It is a small plant -- 8 to 12 inches high -- with several blue or purple or greenish blossoms along the stem.

The genus was named for the Dutch botanist, Emanuel Sweert.
