Owlclover
Genus Orthocarpus Figwort Family (Scrophulariaceae)
Tolmie Owlclover (Orthocarpus tolmiei) This is a small plant that grows on dry hillsides. The leaves are very slender -- almost like grass. They are gray-green in color.
Showy bright yellow bracts surround inconspicuous flowers. (This plant is in the same family with the Paintbrush, which also has colorful bracts surrounding small, plain flowers.)
