Bistort

Bistort
(Polygonum bistortoides)

This alpine plant grows at high elevations in rich, damp mountain meadows. Sometimes large areas seem to be covered with them.

I have seen them most often east of Ogden and in the Uintas. Strangely, they do not occur in the canyons around Salt Lake and Davis counties.
