Spring Beauty
(Claytonia lanceolata)

A tiny plant, one of the first to bloom as the snow melts -- very early (March) in the foothills, but much later (July) at the higher elevations.

The blossom is about a half inch across. It has five petals, but only two sepals. The petals are pale pink, with darker pink lines.
